Abstract:Based on the two databases of China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) and Web of Science, this study makes a systematic analysis of the research status in the field of second language academic writing mainly from 2013 to 2025. From the statistical results, this field has indeed made substantial progress. However, some problems are gradually exposed, such as the relatively limited sample representation of existing research, simplistic research methods, and inadequate translation of research findings into teaching practices. Accordingly, on the one hand, future research should promote methodological innovation, on the other hand, more emphasis should be placed on practice orientation, and the governance system of artificial intelligence should be further refined. Therefore, this review aims to provide some practical references for the teaching and research of second language academic writing and help learners better adapt to the practical needs of global academic exchanges.
