Abstract: The development of leadership among aesthetic education teachers in rural schools is a serious problem that needs to be addressed urgently in the reform of school aesthetic education in the new era. Taking county-level secondary schools as the case, this paper will systematically examine the actual problems, the reasons for the problems, and corresponding countermeasures to enhance the leading ability of teachers in rural aesthetic education. The four reasons given for the lack of leadership training are structural marginalisation, lack of ability, loss of initiative and no-relations support. The reasons for this are that aesthetic education has been instrumentally used in the examination-oriented system, there are structural imbalances in the distribution of educational resources at the county level, there is a misunderstanding of the significance of aesthetic education in rural areas, and there are deficiencies in the institutional path for leadership development.
Keywords: rural schools; county-level middle schools; aesthetic education teachers
