Abstract:Supporting the elderly is not only a traditional virtue of the Chinese nation but also a statutory obligation of adult children. It is a crucial measure to protect the legitimate rights and interests of the elderly and address population aging. Centered on the Civil Code of the People’s Republic of China and the Law of the People’s Republic of China on the Protection of the Rights and Interests of the Elderly, China has established a legal regulatory system for elderly support obligations, clarifying the subjects, contents and relief channels of support. However, in judicial practice and social life, problems such as inadequate performance of support obligations and difficulties in implementing legal regulations remain prominent. Based on current legal norms, this paper sorts out the core contents of legal regulation on elderly support obligations, deeply analyzes the practical dilemmas and their underlying causes, and then puts forward targeted and feasible breakthrough strategies. It aims to improve the legal regulatory system for support obligations, solve elderly support problems, effectively ensure that the elderly are provided for and cared for, and safeguard family harmony and social stability.
